Joel Leonard Moen, 68, retired employee of Cytec and resident of Rainier Drive, died Thursday, November 23, 2017 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11:00 A.M. at First Family Church with Reverend Rick Blevins and Dr. Steve Nowlin officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at First Family Church. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Maury County Sheriff's Citizens Academy or Maury County Sheriff's Rodeo, 1300 Lawson White Drive, Columbia, TN 38401. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.

Born February 17, 1949, in Aurora, Illinois, he was the son of the late Leonard Moen and the late Marie Bernard Moen. On September 4, 1993, he married Kathy Pullen Moen who preceded him in death August 19, 2017. He was an active member of the Maury County Sheriff's Citizens Academy and was an Honorary Colonel in the Tennessee State Militia given in honor of his Public Service. Mr. Moen was a member of First Family Church and the Steve Nowlin Sunday School Class for many years.

Survivors include his daughter, Kelley Marie Moen Turco of Columbia; sons, Matthew Robert Moen of Murfreesboro; and Billy (Becky) Blackburn of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Michael Wayne Kelley of Columbia; Gregory David Kelley of Columbia; Craig Stephen (Jacquelyn Danielle) Kelley of Columbia; David Brian Turco, Jr. of Columbia; Emma Katherine Blackburn of Murfreesboro; Allison Elizabeth Blackburn of Murfreesboro; and William Evan Blackburn of Murfreesboro; great grandson, Lincoln Parker Kelley of Columbia; sister, Shari (Otto) Leden of Aurora, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers will be Michael Wayne Kelley, Gregory David Kelley, Craig Stephen Kelley, David Brian Turco, Jr., Brett Hertan, Richard Allen, Noel Willems, and Greg Hodge. Honorary pallbearers include Dr. Steve Nowlin Sunday School Class at First Family Church and the Maury County Sheriff's Citizens Academy.
