Earl Edmonson Johnson, 77, retired farmer and resident of Williamsport, died Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A graveside service will be conducted Thursday at 3:30 P.M. at Polk Memorial Gardens with Mayor Jim Bailey and Eddie Vaughn officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 2:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home.

Born November 24, 1940 in Maury County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Leonard M. Johnson, Sr. and the late Alma Sager Johnson. He was a 1959 graduate of Columbia Central High School. He served in the United States Air Force at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas and was a Sergeant in the Tennessee National Guard for six years as an airplane propeller mechanic, stationed at Berry Field in Nashville. For many years, Mr. Johnson was a salesman for Tennessee Valley Packing Company, then worked for Monsanto Chemical Company until they closed, and was former co-owner and operator of J&H Trucking. He was a member of the Church of Christ, the Elks Lodge, a former president of J.R. Baker Elementary School PTA, former Boy Scout Leader, and former member of the American Legion.

Survivors include his daughters, Lynnette Johnson Fitts of Franklin; and Amy Johnson (Scott) Cranford of Franklin; grandson, Carter Cranford of Franklin; and nephews, Don Harlan of Franklin; and David Harlan of Jackson, Tennessee.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Janette Johnson Harlan; and brother, Leonard M. Johnson, Jr.

Active pallbearers will be Don Harlan, David Harlan, Carroll Marcum, Terry Potts, Tim Holt, Bill Ammons and Bobby Gaskill. Honorary pallbearers include Dr. Gibran Naddy, Eddie Vaughn and friends of Bucky's Restaurant, and friends of Signature Health Care.
