David Nathaniel Adkison, 53, territory manager for Byrd's Automotive, died Sunday, February 4, 2018 at his residence in Columbia.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 12:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Mylen Coble officiating. Burial will follow in Adkison Cemetery with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.

Born June 1, 1964, he was the son of Linda Adkison Hester and the late Ralph Demby Adkison. He was a 1982 graduate of Columbia Central High School and served in the United States Navy, where he was stationed in Pensacola, Florida. Mr. Adkison enjoyed riding motorcycles, scuba diving, and more recently flying model airplanes. He attended Viola Baptist Church.

Survivors include his son, Zach Adkison of Columbia; daughter, Alia Adkison of Mt. Pleasant; mother, Linda Adkison (Shane) Hester of Columbia; granddaughter, Abigail Adkison of Columbia; brothers, Harvie Joshua (Shannon) Adkison of Savannah; Ralph Jason (Holly) Adkison of Guntersville, Alabama; sister, Lisa Adkison of Columbia; niece, Ema Adkison; and nephews, Eli Adkison; and Fisher Adkison.

Active pallbearers will be Jason Brooks, Jeff Weaver, Tommy Dale, Dennis Morrison, Gerald Martin, and Reverend Mylen Coble. Honorary pallbearers include employees of Byrd's Automotive and dedicated clients of 20 years.
