Mr. William "Billy" Clyde Foster, Jr., 82, retired from the U.S. Post Office and longtime resident of Culleoka, died Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 4:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Corey Bell officiating. Military honors will be provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4 – 8:00 p.m. and Saturday after 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery at a later date.

The Maury County native was the son of the late William Clyde Foster, Sr. and Dove Thurman Foster. On July 4, 1956 he married Betty Oliver Foster of Culleoka who survives.
Mr. Foster served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Along with his job as a rural mail carrier for over thirty five years with the Post Office he was also a lifetime farmer. Mr. Foster was a member of Culleoka Church of Christ.

Survivors in addition to his wife include his children, Mike (Patti) Foster of Culleoka, Lettie Anne Foster of Nashville, Vicki Lynn Sharp of Culleoka, Matt (Tracy) Foster of Lewisburg; grandchildren, Michael (Kelsey) Foster of Memphis, Will (Britton) Foster, Robert (Whitney) Foster both of Columbia, Ashley Nicole (Nick) Landry of Spring Hill, Ben Foster, Nathaniel Foster both of Lewisburg; and a great-granddaughter, Mimsie Foster of Memphis.

Honorary pallbearers include the men and women of Culleoka Morning Coffee Drinkers and members of Culleoka Church of Christ.

Our hearts are breaking. We will miss his smiling face and his walking across the driveway to sit and laugh a while. The last thing he said to me when I hugged and kissed him by is I hope you get good news hon! We love you both so much and he will greatly be missed.

so very sorry to hear of such a good longtime friend of my family mr.billy clyde passing.he was our mail man when i was a small child living on route 2 culleoka.mr foster always had a smile and a friendly wave as you would see him passing by on the mail route or would have a morning coversation with my daddy j.r. henson.he would most times end up at the country store at southport and take a small break from the route and talk with firends and neighbors.you could set your watch by his timely delivery of the mail.he will always be a very fond memory of my child hood growing up on route 2 or better know now as toll dugger road.mr.foster was as good a man who i have ever know and he will be missed by all who knew him .my prayers go out to the family of this great man in their time of sorrow .R I P mr .foster you have made your mark as a good man and friend to many .i am sure their are many that will read this and remeber as a small child growing up in the 60s and 70s a kind mail man who would buy them a coke or ice cream everytime he seen them at the old southport store when mr. barron thurman ran it so many years ago!
